Hello

My Story

Hello, I’m Hsin-Shao, the counsellor behind Kaleidoscope Holistic Counselling. My journey into the world of counselling began with a heartfelt aspiration to help others navigate life’s challenges and discover the beauty and resilience within themselves. Over the past decade, I’ve supported people facing anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, and the weight of stress, as well as those struggling with loneliness or family issues.

I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of people, including individuals adjusting to cultural differences, university students navigating academic pressures, and those experiencing grief or struggling with self-doubt. I also specialize in supporting people who have lost loved ones to suicide, offering a compassionate space to process the deep sorrow and unanswered questions that often come with such a loss. Through these experiences, I have learned that true healing starts with feeling understood—knowing that someone truly hears you and sees the challenges you are facing.

For some, simply putting feelings into words brings relief. I listen deeply, helping you untangle emotions and gain insight that can ease your struggles. For others, it may take time to find the words, and that’s okay. I will be there, guiding you gently as you explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Whether you are facing overwhelming stress, low self-esteem, or the weight of bereavement, my goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that feels empowering and real, leading to relief, understanding, and growth.

I also have a deep understanding of how cultural backgrounds shape the way we experience the world. Having worked with individuals from diverse cultures, I know that adjusting to life in a new country or reconciling one’s heritage with the pressures of modern life can create a sense of isolation or internal conflict. Whatever your background, we will explore how your experiences and identity shape your emotions, relationships, and sense of self, working together to find a way forward that feels true to you.

Fluency in both Mandarin and English allows me to connect with clients in the language they feel most comfortable with. Whether you prefer to express yourself in Mandarin or English, I will ensure you feel truly understood throughout our work together. Communication is more than just words—it is about being heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.

Everyone’s journey is different, which is why I tailor my approach to your unique needs. Grounded in person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, I help clients explore the deeper roots of their distress, whether it is anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, or relational challenges, and support them in fostering meaningful change. Together, we will work toward a place where you feel more at ease with yourself and the world around you.

Reaching out for support can be a big step, but you don’t have to go through this alone. I am here to walk with you as we navigate this journey together.
